Overview

AWS Migration Hub
How it works
AWS Migration Hub provides a central location to collect server and application inventory data for the assessment, planning, and tracking of migrations to AWS. Migration Hub can also help accelerate application modernization following migration.

Calculate the WAN link data rate being used at the business location or data center. Determine usable bandwidth to transfer information. Calculate the time to transfer into the cloud. If the calculation shows that transfer time of weeks you may want to consider offline data transfer.

AWS Snowmobile
AWS Snowmobile Overview AWS Snowmobile moves extremely large amounts of data to AWS. Transfer up to 100 PB per Snowmobile, a 45-foot-long ruggedized shipping container
Data Sync Tools
AWS DataSync is a secure, online service that automates and accelerates moving data between on premises and AWS Storage services. DataSync can copy data between Network File System (NFS) shares, Server Message Block (SMB) shares, Hadoop Distributed File Systems (HDFS), self-managed object storage, AWS Snowcone, Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) buckets, Amazon Elastic File System (Amazon EFS) file systems, Amazon FSx for Windows File Server file systems, Amazon FSx for Lustre file systems, Amazon FSz for OpenZFS file systems, and Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP file systems.
AWS DataSync is also used to transfer data between AWS Storage services so you can replicate, archive, or share application data easily.
AWS DataSync supports moving data between other public clouds and AWS Storage services.
Getting started costs
With AWS Migration Services, the free period for data transfer depends on the specific migration service that you use. Here are some examples:
AWS Server Migration Service: The free period for data transfer with SMS is 90 days from the start of the migration project. During this period, data transfer fees for migrated servers are waived.
AWS Database Migration Service: The free period for data transfer with DMS is 6 months from the start of the migration project. During this period, data transfer fees for migrated databases are waived.
AWS Snowball: The free period for data transfer with Snowball is the duration of the Snowball rental period, which can vary depending on the size of the Snowball device and the region in which it is rented.
AWS Transfer Family: The free period for data transfer with AWS Transfer Family is 1 GB of data transfer per month for the first 12 months.
Note that these free periods only apply to data transfer fees and do not cover other AWS service fees or charges, such as storage or compute fees. It’s important to review the specific terms and conditions of each migration service to understand the costs and limitations involved.
