Getting started costs

With AWS Migration Services, the free period for data transfer depends on the specific migration service that you use. Here are some examples:

  1. AWS Server Migration Service: The free period for data transfer with SMS is 90 days from the start of the migration project. During this period, data transfer fees for migrated servers are waived.

  2. AWS Database Migration Service: The free period for data transfer with DMS is 6 months from the start of the migration project. During this period, data transfer fees for migrated databases are waived.

  3. AWS Snowball: The free period for data transfer with Snowball is the duration of the Snowball rental period, which can vary depending on the size of the Snowball device and the region in which it is rented.

  4. AWS Transfer Family: The free period for data transfer with AWS Transfer Family is 1 GB of data transfer per month for the first 12 months.

Note that these free periods only apply to data transfer fees and do not cover other AWS service fees or charges, such as storage or compute fees. It’s important to review the specific terms and conditions of each migration service to understand the costs and limitations involved.
